Cooking Instructions
Puttu (Steamed Cake):
Mix the flour with a pinch of salt and sprinkle water gradually.Rub with your fingers until it reaches a “damp sand” consistency (it should hold its shape when pressed in your palm but crumble easily).Layer with grated coconut in a puttu steamer and steam for 8–10 minutes.
Idiyappam (String Hoppers):
Mix the flour with hot boiling water and a teaspoon of oil to form a soft, non-sticky dough.Press through an idiyappam maker and steam for 5–7 minutes. It will have a beautiful pinkish-red hue.
